Seeing a horse come home in first place can be excellent news, if that is the horse that you have placed a bet on and you are hopefully able to see your bankroll improve. If, on the other hand, it is not the horse that you’ve placed a wager on then it can be extremely frustrating; especially if your horse came second. The good news is that BoyleSports have a promotion that will go some way to compensate for a second-place finish, on the proviso that your horse missed out to the race favourite. If that happens then you can get your stake money back as a free bet, allowing you to have another go.
When Your Horse Just Misses Out
Obviously the ideal scenario when betting on a horse race is to see your chosen horse make it across the finish line before any other horses. Sometimes, though, that isn’t how things work out and the horse that began the race as the starting price (SP) favourite beats your selection to the post. From a bettor’s point of view, that can be an incredibly annoying scenario to find oneself in, given that it means that you not only won’t be able to increase your bankroll but will also kick yourself and wonder why you didn’t place a bet in the favourite in the first place. The good news is that BoyleSports can help to alleviate this a little.
The company has a promotion in place that will see you receive your stake money back if the horse that you placed a bet on misses out on winning because it comes second to the SP favourite. As most punters know, the favourite doesn’t always win or else we’d all know exactly what we should be staking our bet on. Being able to get your stake money back as a free bet in order to place a bet on a different race is, at least, as slight improvement on the situation, even if you’d rather have ended up winning the race over all.
What You Need to Know
The first thing that you need to know is that the promotion is only in place on certain meetings. In other words, if you’d like to take advantage of it then take a look at BoyleSports’ website and check which meeting the offer is in place for. It is a promotion that is in place on straight win bets as well as the win part of each-way bets and is only for named runners. That is to say, you can’t, for example, place a bet on the ‘Unnamed 2nd Fav’ and expect to be able to take advantage of the offer. The maximum refund that you will get returned to you as a free bet is £20. You can bet more than £20, it’s just that £20 is all you’ll get returned.
The offer is in place on bets that are placed on the day of the race, with the first bet placed being the one that will count if you choose to place several bets. That means that ante-post wagers won’t count towards it. Any bets that are made void obviously won’t count, though you will usually get your stake money returned to you anyway in such instances. You can’t place combined odds bets for this, not can you place bets in-play. If there is a dead heat finish then the promotion won’t count. Should you bet on a race with a joint starting price favourite, both will count as a favourite for the promotion.
Using Your Free Bet
As is often the case with such promotions, you won’t qualify for the offer if you have placed your bet using a previously awarded free bet. The race that you bet on will need to have five or more runners in order for the promotion to be active on it. Should you place a bet on a horse and see said horse finish in second place behind the favourite, you can get your stake refunded to you as a free bet. At that point, their standard terms and conditions surrounding free bets will come into play. The amount you have to place a free bet with will be displayed at the top of the sports book page.
Typically speaking, you can place these on any sport, with seven days from the moment you receive it to make use of it. If you were to win the bet, any returns that you receive will not include the free bet stake. Similarly, they cannot be used to place bets with special offers likes best odds guaranteed, money back specials and so on. You can’t use a free bet alongside cash to place a bet. In other words, if you place a wager worth, say, £35 and you only have a £20 free bet, you will need to either reduce your bet to £20 or else use cash to place it.
