Horse racing is one of the most popular sports in the United Kingdom, both in terms of people attending events and for people to bet on. It is entirely common for punters to have a look and see what horse racing is taking place at any given moment and have a flutter on said event. The sensible bettor won’t just place a wager on an event that they don’t understand, instead doing some research first. Even when you do that, though, you could still miss out on a winning bet because your selection comes second to the race favourite. The good news for QuinnBet customers is that you can still get something back if that happens.

Getting a Free Bet if Your Selection Misses Out to the Favourite

QuinnBet have a promotion in place across all races taking place in the United Kingdom and Ireland every single day. The promotion in question says that you could get your stake money back as a free bet should the horse horse that you have bet on come in second behind the starting price favourite. In order to qualify for the promotion, your selection must have odds of evens or greater and there must be at least six runners taking part in the race that you’re betting on. In addition, the favourite’s starting price odds must be greater than 6/4. As long as the race is run in the UK or Ireland, your bet will be covered by the offer.

The key thing to remember here is that you will only get your stake refunded to you as a free bet if your chosen horse finishes second to the SP favourite. In other words, if your horse comes second to a different horse, with the favourite coming third or worse, you won’t get a refund. Equally, if your horse finishes third or fourth then there will be no stake refund for you and instead your bet will just be a loser, presuming it wasn’t an each-way wager. It is a promotion designed to take the edge off the disappointment of coming close to seeing your selection return but missing out in cruel fashion.

There is Small Print in Play

In entirely unsurprising news to anyone who has placed a bet with a bookmaker via a promotion in the past, there is some small print that you will need to think about when you place your wager. The most important ones have already been mentioned, but for the sake of clarity are as follows:

  • Your selection must have odds of evens or greater
  • There must be at least six horses running in the race
  • The starting price favourite must have odds of greater than 6/4

Also consider the fact that you will get back a maximum of £10 per day as a free bet in the event that the horse that you’ve bet on comes second to the horse that went off as the favourite. Obviously that might well end up being a different horse to the one that was the favourite when you placed your bet, which is something that you’ll need to bear in mind if you’re confused about why you haven’t received a refund. If the winner was the joint favourite then you’ll still get the free bet paid out to you. The only time it won’t count is if the race finishes as a dead heat.

Other points to think about are the fact that the promotion being triggered will stop any other promotions from working. If you wish to be able to take advantage of the promotion then you will need to be placing your qualifying bet on the day of the race, so ante-post wagers won’t be part of the promotion. You can place more than one bet on a race, but only the first one of the day will count. The bet will apply to win single bets and the win part of each-way wagers. The most that you’ll be able to get back as a free bet is £10, but that doesn’t mean that you can only bet £10, just that only £10 of a larger bet will be refunded.

Using the Free Bet

The obvious hope for those of you placing a bet and hoping to take advantage of this promotion is that your wager is a winning one and you don’t need the promotion to kick in anyway. The second-best thing would be that your horse, if it loses, comes second to the favourite. If that were to happen then you would receive up to £10 of your stake back as a free bet, but how do they work with QuinnBet? As long as you have bet with cash rather than any welcome offer money or an existing free bets, you will be awarded the free bet refund by 12pm the following day and you’ll have seven days to use it.

If you don’t use this within seven days then it will expire and you won’t be able to use it at all. If you do manage to make use of it then it can be used on any sporting even covered by QuinnBet, as long as it has odds of 1/2 or greater, with a maximum odds permissible of 500/1. You can’t use it on multiples like a Trixie, a Yankee or a Patent, but it’s fine to use on a standard accumulator. You will be paid any returns from the free bet without the stake money. The other thing to remember is that you can’t use this alongside any other QuinnBet promotion.
